Over fifteen 45 minute sessions, Traci Timmons and Rachel Rath will guide 5 and 6 year old students through practical steps and skills that enable proper handwriting. This five week course, set in a small group, is appropriate for beginning writers and those who need a little extra help with their printing.
Class will begin by discovering lines and shapes through music using our bodies, and transitioning what we’ve learned to paper through simple drawings. By the end of the five week class we will have formed all capital letters, lower case letters, and numbers. Letter spacing and word spacing will be introduced and reinforced throughout the workshop.
Ultimately, this workshop will guide the students to integrate their visual and motor skills by working on pencil grip, recognizing the lines and curves that build letters and numbers, and by combining these skills to create printed letters and numbers on lined paper.
